It’s been a crazy summer, both good and bad, and Ben and I are ready to start talking. We’ve been hard at work on some exciting stuff, as well as dealing with some of the crazy things life throws at you when you bootstrap a company. We’re going to be launching a bunch of new initiatives and stuff that we think our customers will be really happy about, but we’re also going to be using this blog and other marketing channels much more heavily to connect with our customers, many of whom are entrepreneurs as well. We’re going to be more transparent, more authentic, more open about the challenges and risks of doing what we’re doing and where we’ve failed. We’ve learned some very important things that I’m incredibly excited to share and discuss with our readers, so please stay tuned. Our first post will be up tomorrow morning, so go ahead and subscribe to our feed or follow us on Twitter so that you don’t forget to check us out.
Here’s a taste of the things we’ll cover over the next few weeks:
- What you must have before launching a company with your own cash
- The stupid mistakes we made when starting MightyBrand, and how to avoid them
- Why we decided to skip venture funding and try for profits instead
- The one thing you should never do if you want to build a great brand
- And a lot more…
Yes, that’s some blatantly cheesy sales-letter copywriting But I’d hate to give it all away now, so please stay tuned and let us know if you’d like us to cover anything in particular!
PS – Thanks to Luke Fretwell for guidance on our new blog design. We love it…do you?

Short version: we’re launching a new web application called MightyReach that lets you create a customized dashboard of all your web and social media stats. Check it out and sign up to be notified when it launches!
We’ve had a blast working on MightyBrand over the last few months and we’ve got a new set of features that we’re going to be launching soon that we wanted to share. The idea is that we’ll be allowing you to create a customized dashboard where you can view all your web analytics and social media stats in one place. You can track visitors to your website, subscribers to your RSS feeds, followers on Twitter, views of your videos, etc. The best part is that we’re integrating with all the 3rd-party services that you already use, so you don’t need to change anything to use our solution. It’s been about four months since we launched our early prototype BlueSwarm and today we’re proud to announce the launch of MightyBrand. We have made some major improvements under the hood, added more sources, and created even more ways to collaborate and engage with people talking about your brand.
We want to thank everyone that checked out BlueSwarm, we have taken all the feedback we’ve received and we’ve worked hard to integrate it into MightyBrand.
The previous version of MightyBrand will continue to exist as mightybrand.com where we will continue to bring you articles on social media and branding on the web. We look forward to another great year of further exploring this space, and we hope that MightyBrand will be an excellent complimentary service to mightybrand.com.
PS – We’ll be posting lots of great tips about building a mighty brand online, as well as news and updates about the MightyBrand service, so please subscribe and follow us on twitter. Thanks!
A few months ago, we launched a very early preview of BlueSwarm.com as a prototype to gather feedback from users and refine the concept. We’ve gotten some great feedback and a lot of good ideas and we’re hard at work on the full public release of BlueSwarm, which should happen in the next few weeks. Here’s a little preview of what we’re adding:
- More reliable aggregation – Demand for BlueSwarm has been much higher than anticipated, so we’re overhauling our indexing spiders to be more efficient as they probe every nook and cranny of the web for mentions of your brand.
- Indexing more social channels – We launched with blogs and Twitter, but we’ll be adding a lot more social media channels to ensure that you don’t miss any opportunities to connect with your customers
- Better collaboration tools
- More tools to engage in conversations
- More accurate and transparent analysis
- Lots of bug fixes, design enhancements, and minor tweaks to the platform
So that’s a bit of what you can look forward to. In the meantime, please feel free to check out the prototype version at BlueSwarm.com and we’ll notify you when we launch v1.0. And as always, we’d love to hear any feedback you have, so drop me a note at ryan at blueswarm. Thanks!
